    CUPS Installation
    Submitted By: admin Date: April 22, 2013, 07:11:53 PM Views: 1084

    Anyone who has tried starting up the cups service has probably noticed that it's not working. This is an Arch issue with the cups systemd files. For whatever reason, the correct symlink from /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants isn't being created.

    To fix this problem, do the following from the command line:

    Code: [Select]
    $ ln -s /usr/lib/systemd/system/cups.service /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/cups.service
    Restart your system, and the cups service should now be running:

    Code: [Select]
    [root@bluestar ~]# systemctl status cups
    cups.service - CUPS Printing Service
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/cups.service; enabled)
    Active: active (running) since Mon 2013-04-22 13:59:39 EDT; 4h 5min ago
    Main PID: 618 (cupsd)
    CGroup: name=systemd:/system/cups.service
    └─618 /usr/sbin/cupsd -f

    Apr 22 13:59:39 bluestar systemd[1]: Started CUPS Printing Service.

    Now, using your browser, go to localhost:631 where you'll find the cups service interface, including the printer installation wizard.
