Those who would like to use the Chromium/Chrome browser's chromecast extension must modify their firewall.

First, find the IP address of your chromecast device - using Google Cast on your mobile device, go to Devices and tap the 3-vertical-dots icon in the upper right corner of the device widget. Select Device Settings and go to the bottom of the page. The IP address will be listed there. Then issue the following commands in a terminal window on your Linux system, substituting [CC-IP-Address] with your chromecast device's IP address:

    Code: [Select]
sudo ufw allow proto udp from [CC-IP-Address] to any port 32768:61000
sudo ufw allow proto tcp from [CC-IP-Address] to any port 32768:61000

You should now be able to cast Chromium/Chrome tabs to your chromecast device.
