    From the Administrator / Fix for systemloadviewer applet
    « Last post by admin on November 15, 2016, 12:26:07 PM »
    To fix the systemloadviewer widget (at least until an official fix is released), do the following:

    - edit /usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.systemloadviewer/contents/ui/SystemLoadViewer.qml

    - find the following line:
    Code: [Select]
    var memUsed = parseFloat(dataSource.data[dataSource.memUsed] ? dataSource.data[dataSource.memUsed].value : 0) / 1024
    - add the following line after it:
    Code: [Select]
    var memApplication = parseFloat(dataSource.data[dataSource.memApplication] ? dataSource.data[dataSource.memApplication].value : 0) / 1024
    - save your changes

    - reboot

    At this point, tooltips will be restored - in this case that means you'll see the actual stats again - and you can now enable "CPUs separately" under "Show:" in settings again.

    From the Administrator / Problems running Arch 4.8.x kernels in Virtualbox

    FYI for those of you having trouble running the latest 4.8.4 desktop release in Virtualbox, apparently the 4.8.4 kernel config didn't enable CONFIG_KVM_APIC_ARCHITECTURE as it was in the 4.7.x kernels. I posted a bug report which may or may not result in any action, but the workaround is to enable I/O APIC when setting up your VM motherboard.

    FYI, please check the following:

    - if this file contains the line "exec startkde", delete this line - it's causing a logout error (you'll have to logout twice to actually logout).

    If you have no need for the .xinitrc or .xsession files, you can delete these. .xinitrc is called by .xsession which was used by kdm which is not supported by kde5. Unless you have personally modified these files for a specific reason, you can delete them.

    Also, I've found confirmation that there is a QXcbConnection bug that causes crashes of kde/plasma processes that use QtSql. Apparently, qtsql connections are being closed asynchronously and randomly before the kde services are ready for their connections to be closed. There is a bugfix for this that will be released with Qt 5.8.

    You can read through the whole bug report, but the relevant parts start at comment #27.
